About TIQ
The Illuminati Quiz (TIQ), organised by the students of Govt. Model Engineering College (MEC), Kochi, is among South India’s leading student-run quiz competitions. Founded in 2008 in memory of Sandeep Menon, TIQ has grown into a nationally recognised platform, bringing together participants from schools, colleges and professional circles.
Known for its thoughtfully crafted questions and competitive format, TIQ has consistently drawn participants from leading institutions, including the IITs and IIMs. Each edition typically features a rigorous preliminary round followed by fiercely contested finals, providing a stage where experienced contenders and emerging talent can compete side by side.
Sandeep Menon
(1984) – (2008)
Sandeep Menon (batch of 2006 – Model Engineering College) is the founder and guiding spirit of the ‘The Illuminati’. An exceptional quizzer, he is affectionately known in local quizzing circles as ‘The Illuminatus’. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2005. Despite deteriorating health, Sandeep pursued his academics with utmost commitment, led the placement cell to bring record number of jobs on campus and instilled the spirit of quizzing in MEC. Yet, his dream lives on through The Illuminati and its marquee event, The Illuminati Quiz.

Illuminati, the resident quizzing fraternity of Govt. Model Engineering College (MEC), Kochi, was founded by the late Sandeep Menon to foster a lasting interest in quizzing on campus and beyond. Over the years, the club has conducted more than a hundred intra- and inter-collegiate quizzes, hosting monthly informal quizzes and organising The Illuminati Quiz (TIQ), its flagship annual event that draws participation from across the country.

Sandeep Menon Foundation
The Sandeep Menon Foundation is the official supporting foundation of The Illuminati Quiz. Founded after Sandeep Menon’s passing, the Foundation continues to uphold and support the quiz that he himself founded during his time at Govt. Model Engineering College.
Through its continued backing of The Illuminati Quiz, the Foundation honours Sandeep Menon’s legacy and vision, while extending its work across education, healthcare, and sport to create meaningful impact and opportunity for marginalised communities.
